I need to be more active writing this blog, ugh. Just got back from California interview trip. Amazing weather, liked the school (WesternU) a lot, visited some beautiful places like Malibu and Beverly Hills.
Unfortunately, now I face a mountain of work and tests this week. I have a 7 page paper due Friday, a stats problem set due Tuesday, a chem lab report due Tuesday, an exam on Thursday, and chem homework due as usual on Friday. (The chem prof rather than give me a 2 day extension on my HW for partial credit while I was out of state insisted I fax him the work by the usual deadline of 2 PM EASTERN. good times).
I am still sick, and have been since Super Tuesday. Tomorrow I’m going to the doctor for chest x-rays and bloodwork to see if I have mono or pneumonia.
Now for the update none of you care about: Iowa State vet put me on the wait list. Wednesday they will tell me where I rank in the list, and I can hopefully figure out how many, if any, usually come off such a list.
My interview at Western went exceedingly well, so I may end up spending the next few years in Southern California!
Finally, I am seriously considering joining the US Army Veterinary Corps to pay for my education. Don’t worry, it is NOT a combat position, and I would serve either as a research DVM at domestic VA hospitals or doing humanitarian disease control in the third world.
