Because, you know, a large percentage of kids don’t join the military for financial and education reasons… Why would they do something so silly?

  2. Jackson Says:

Private school tuition is rising out of sight and public school tuition is not far behind in terms of annual increase. It’s my hope that each and every one of my friends, along with all the other young veterans, can get a college education.

Even I was fortunate enough to go to a school with good grant offers and qualify for a lot of federal aid. This isn’t the case for every student. Some kids need to join the military to make a college education a reality, and I think its absurd to demand they serve 12 years before they get any benefits. Who says they will even be around in 12 years?

Active-duty suicides have been over 100 oer year for the last few years in Iraq. The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 128 veterans (all wars) a month take their lives, amounting to 18 a day.

A large number of veterans come back to the US displaced and unable to readjust to society. Shouldn’t we stop endlessly chanting “support the troops” and ACTUALLY support the troops, honoring their sacrifice?
